Eddie Money > Billy Ocean

I’ve got two tickets to paradise. Won’t you pack you’re bags, we’ll leave tonight.” He didn’t say, “I could go get two tickets out of town. Won’t you tell me if you’d like to come this week.” Eddie committed to the idea of impressing the girl. He bought not only himself a ticket to a seemingly tropical locale, but got her one too and he’s ready to head out tonight! He knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to put his money where his mouth is. She knows what she’ll miss out on if she says no. Now who do you think she’s going to pick? The guy taking her to the Caribbean for free, right now, or the weird guy who’s vocally admitting to teenage fantasies and whistling at her from his car that he’s stalking her in? You’re whining. He’s winning. You’ve got self loathing, doubt and a working car; Eddie’s got self-confidence, zeal and bait. What’s my point? If you want something from someone in life (advice, love, partnership, a job), you have to convince him or her why you’re worth it. What are you going to offer them? Passion? Commitment? Hard work? Remember, the second you feel that someone is supposed to do something for you is the second that you’ve lost. Prove it, prove it again, be humble, work harder, be kinder, smile more and slowly it will all payoff. But if you’re doing anything for a superficial reason (fame, money) prepare to be run over by 10 guys who do it because they love it. Prove that you’re worth as much as you think you are. Believe in yourself because if you don’t, no one will. Be somebody they’ll remember. Be somebody. Be unique. Be Eddie. Don’t be Billy.
