The Best Thing

What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you, that isn’t on your resume, or that isn’t a typical marker of success? Say you couldn’t include: graduating college, marriage, getting hired, birth of a child, winning the lottery, starting a company, etc.?

What are those unplanned or imperceptible moments on a nowhere Wednesday that didn’t seem remarkable, or even memorable at all, but that if they hadn’t happened, you wouldn’t be who are today?

Recently, my good friend, author, coach, and speaker extraordinaire, Antonio Neves, asked me that on his podcast: The Best Thing.

The question sprouted other topics, hopscotching our chat this way and that; through bars in Brooklyn, nuclear reactors in Hawaii and baggage claim in Madrid.

In our half-hour talk you’ll learn:

  • How to make the “right” decisions when given two equal options

  • How to give yourself permission to live your own narrative

  • How to handle things out of your control

  • Why I think we don't matter, but we can matter

And of course, you’ll find out what 8-word sentence a strange man said to me in Irvine, California 13 years ago that might have been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Enjoy.
